The Bates are often considered a “normal” version of the mega-sized, bible-thumping, not-entirely-scandal-free Duggar family. We will let you all decide if that is a fair assessment. Unlike the Duggars, the Bates are not widely know. All of that may change soon.
Recently, the family focused UP television network announced that ‘Bringing up the Bates’ has been renewed for a 6th season. Kudos!
The reality series showcases the highlights of this family of two parents, nineteen children and a growing group of in-laws and grands. Included in season 6 is a wedding, a courtship, a possibly soon-to-be courtship marked by a special basket of sunshine, new babies and pilot lessons. Sounds Duggarish to us!
The eldest daughter Michael and her husband Brandon, married for over a year and a half now are struggling to conceive their first child. That is like a lifetime for a family whose religious sect does not believe in the use of birth control. A few years ago, her younger sister faced the same troubles. Erin was the first Bates sibling to wed, but child #3 of the bunch. She had trouble maintaining several of her pregnancies due to a blood clotting disorder.
Thanks to God (and the help of modern medicine), Erin and her husband Chad now have two beautiful little ones. Infertility is something we have not seen discussed much from these larger families who are prone to highlight “blessings” over some of life’s misfortunes. This may be an interesting topic that separates ‘Bringing up the Bates’ from the rest.
Guess we will need to watch the show to form our own opinions on the matter.
Season 5 of ‘Bringing up the Bates’ is currently airing on UP Network. Season 6 is scheduled to premiere on June 1, 2017.
