VH1 has announced that Rita Ora is out and Tyra Banks is back at the helm of the show she created! Model, singer Ora was brought on board to host the 23rd season of ‘ANTM’ after Banks decided to back off hosting and continue as the creator and executive producer.
Or maybe it was the rise in the ratings on the cable network, VH1. ‘ANTM’ originally aired on the CW. Here on the VH1, the modeling competition show earned its highest ratings in 5 years, with 1.7 million tuning in to watch.
In a statement issued by executive producer, Ken Mok, “Tyra has always been the heart and soul of the franchise, and her absence was deeply felt by our fiercely loyal fans who missed their Queen of the Smize.” He also praises Ora’s hosting, adding, “She infused this new iteration of ‘ANTM’ with passion and creativity and we wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors.”
Tyra also had nothing but praise for Rita Ora, tweeting, “Mizz @ritaora, you exemplify Business a Boss a brand to the fullest! Thank you for all the amazingness you brought to ANTM”.
No word on who is returning to help judge the show, putting the wannabe models through the rigors of modeling. Fans really seemed to like supermodel Ashley Graham, stylist Law Roach, and even Drew Elliott, Paper Magazine’s chief creative officer who were brought on board to judge the models with Ora. But, with Tyra’s return, fans may be hoping that old favorites, J. Alexander and Jay Manuel be taking seats at the judging table.
VH1 is renewing ‘ANTM’ for another season and the real brand boss is back!
