The cast of “This Is Us” are back to work filming the second season of the popular NBC drama at Paramount lot in Los Angeles. Hints were given on social media as to what to expect when the show returns this fall. Stars Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, and Sterling K. Brown took a selfie to show fans that they have reunited! Also shared, was a picture of actors Logan Shroyer and Niles Fitch, who play the teen versions of Kevin and Randall. This tells fans that at least some of Season 2 will take place back in the mid-1990s.
The first season ended in the mid 90’s with Jack and Rebecca Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore) looking like they were headed for a split. Viewers can look forward to seeing happier times too, as the couple will once again go back in time in Season 2. On the first day of filming, This is Us creator Dan Fogelman posted a photo that shows Jack and Rebecca staring into the window of the nursery at the hospital after the birth of their three children Kevin, Kate, and Randall. Ventimiglia, with his full beard, is wearing his denim jacket that was often seen in the early days. This makes it obvious that the second season will flashback to 1980, following the childrens’ births.
Entertainment Tonight posted a clue from Moore’s Instagram story that implies something else exciting could happen in Jack Pearson’s future. Moore posted a picture of a hat with a logo for the Pittsburgh-based “Big Three Homes” on it. In early episodes of the show, Jack dreamt of beginning his own construction company and of leaving his office job. In Season 2, it appears that Jack’s dream comes true, which also could mean that Jack may live past the day that he walked out to give his marriage some space. Just like Season 1, the NBC drama will continuously bounce back and forth throughout the years. Star Mandy Moore shared stories via Instagram of the prep work she was doing prior to filming the second season. Moore was shown getting a face mold to prepare for filming scenes in which she plays the older, mid-60’s version of her character Rebecca.
As I have previously shared, the premiere episode will provide some long awaited answers by revealing the circumstances surrounding Jack’s death. Anticipation only continues to build as fans are eagerly waiting to find out what happens to Jack and the rest of the Pearson family.
This Is Us Season 2 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
