NBC recently announced that Jennifer Hudson would be a coach on Season 13 of The Voice. But guess who else is coming onboard?
Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson took to Blake’s Facebook page to make the announcement live on Wednesday that Kelly would also be joining the popular singing competition show as a coach in spring 2018. Hudson will be doing coaching duty in the fall 2017 season. So, the two will not be coaching at the same time.
Clarkson was the very first American Idol winner, winning the inaugural season of the singing competition against competitors, Justin Guarini, Tamra Gray, and Nikki McGibbin.
Earlier this week, reports were saying that Clarkson would be returning to host the ABC reboot of American Idol. She has returned to AI to perform almost every year since being named the American Idol when the show was still produced on Fox. Paul Telegdy, the president of NBC Entertainment Group’s Alternative and Reality Group, said, “Kelly has been a part of ‘The Voice’ family for many years as an adviser and performer. We are thrilled she has chosen to join us as a coach…” Adding, “Every time Kelly Clarkson sings you are reminded what an incredible voice really is. We are looking forward to the sound of Kelly Clarkson on ‘The Voice’.”
Besides Hudson, the coaches for the fall season will be Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Miley Cyrus. Coaches for the spring competition will more than likely be Levine and Shelton, but a fourth judge has yet to be announced.
