Being a teenager comes with a lot of angst these days, however never has it been so full of emotions and choices than it does in the year 2017. Social media has a lot to do with that as TLC’s Jazz Jennings from the hit show, ‘I Am Jazz’ begins a new season. She will focus on her decision as a 16-year old who wants to have elective surgery that will change her anatomy from male to female. Jazz will also be busy with the common things any teenager does which include learning how to drive and dating. She says she will only date other transgenders now. Her parents are very supportive and want her to see a doctor that will counsel her because her mother is not open to the procedure at this time.
People magazine interviewed Jennings and she told them she, “hates herself.” The third season of the show will feature Jazz and her doctors who will discuss whether the bottom half of this procedure is even “feasible” at this time. Jazz’s parents would have to agree to the operation and this entire storyline will be paramount for others who are struggling as transgender teenagers in a world where appearances seem to be everything.
