'Star Trek: Discovery' Announces New Female Lead

Along with the excitement of the return, CBS recently announced Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead, Once Upon a Time) as the lead actress for the upcoming ‘Star Trek : Discovery’. Martin-Green will play the lead role of first officer. Having an African-American woman as the star character and the story told from outside of the captain’s perspective are two things Star Trek can boast as firsts.

'Star Trek: Discovery' Announces New Female Lead

‘Star Trek: Discovery’ is scheduled to air on CBS for the first 13 episodes before moving to CBS All Access, the network’s over-the-top streaming service.

The premiere date for ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ has not been released. Yet we have a feeling once the show starts, resistance to watching will be futile.
