I’m guessing the ten million dollar pittance they were offering Ryan to host the show was good enough after all. It’s official, Ryan will host AI next season. They promise it will be a better, bigger and bolder show.
After the end of American Idol in 2016, the return was officially announced on Good Morning America on May 9. ABC president Ben Sherwood said in a statement, “America, get ready for the return of a bigger, bolder and better-than-ever Idol.”
“It’s genuinely hard to put into words what American Idol means to me,” Ryan Seacrest said in a statement. “I’m so grateful for the show and all the career and life opportunities it’s allowed me to experience. It’s been an incredible journey from day one. To be asked to return this year, at my new home at Disney|ABC, is an honor, if not a bit surreal. I believe ABC is the perfect home for Idol, and I’ve every confidence the show’s legions of fans will love it—especially Idol’s best traditions of showcasing heartwarming stories, remarkable talent discovery, and, best of all, making dreams come true.”
I personally was getting bored with the show. It looked like it was fixed. I hated when a not so talented singer won the big prize. I didn’t like when great talented contestants were getting axed. The judges would be propping up singers who I thought really sucked. I was ready to change the channel and just dump the whole show. However, I’m a person who believes in second chances so I’ll be tuning in to see how true this new reboot of American idol really is.
Ryan is going to be a pretty busy boy. His plate is brimming and ready to smack him with lots of work and mucho dinero. Poor boy. I don’t envy him, though. It’s a tough schedule. But he thinks he can do it all.
He is going to be juggling three jobs! How does he do it, is my question. He’s got his radio show in the morning, Live with Kelly and Ryan and now AI on ABC. Wow! He must have a clone hidden somewhere. I’d like to know what he’s on! I need a dose of his secret elixir.
It was announced that Seacrest, who was the host of all 15 seasons of AI’s run on Fox, would be back as the host for the Thursday, July 20 show of Live With Kelly and Ryan. Kelly Ripa announced his return on the show. To which Ryan replied.
“Very exciting,” Ryan Seacrest said on the show. “First of all, I don’t know if you’ve ever been in a 15 year relationship and for a reason you really don’t know you break up…I thought, ‘Gosh, it’d be great to get back together at some point…”
“You make that show, you are the heart and soul,” Ripa said.
“I know that you’re busy in the mornings, I get it. I understand its hard doing double duty—you’ve got the radio show, you’ve got this. But your nights are free you don’t have that much to do. You can do this!” she said. “You can disconnect for that! On the days where it is the day after, you won’t even have to think, I will do it all!”
In the announcement, ABC said “Seacrest will help reinvigorate the series that pioneered a new genre of television, staying true to the heart of the show by sharing inspiring stories and turning dreams into reality.”
So it looks like the rift between Kelly and Ryan is now over. She is giving him her full support on his return to American Idol. That’s good of her. She’s as busy as he is so she understands where he’s coming from.
