Russell Westbrook Makes History

Russell Westbrook is doing a great job of securing that MVP (this is coming from a Spurs/Kawhi Leonard fan!) He seems unstoppable. Last night in a game against the Philadelphia 76ers, for the first time in NBA history, Westbrook shot a perfect triple double! The man is already AVERAGING a triple double. That in an of itself is ridiculous, but then last night he shoots 6-of-6 from the floor and 6-of-6 from the free throw line. He finished the game with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists in only 28 minutes.

He decided not to try any 3 point plays, which was the first time in his 83 games that he did not. Also he tied a career low in 6 points from the floor in over 20 minutes of play time.

The man has 11 games to go and only needs 6 more to tie Oscar Robertson for the most triple doubles in a season. What are the chances of that happening? According to ESPN it’s 97% certain he will. In my heart I believe he will. He’s playing with something to prove this season!

Good luck Westbrook, while I’d love to see Leonard clinch that MVP, it’s a hard choice, but you definitely give him a run for his money!
