Many Big Brother faithfuls have mixed emotions when it comes to vets returning to the game, you either love it or hate it. Paul was known for Team Friendship, but this year many saw him as Team Bully. Paul manipulated his way to the final two where he sat next to his friend Josh Martinez. Once again the votes were in and it was tied four to four with Cody being the deciding vote. Paul could be seen and heard saying “not again, no not again,” as the final vote was pulled… JOSH you are the winner of BB19.
So what happened, Paul thought for sure he had this win in the bag. I mean Josh ran around the house banging pots and pans and singing a circus theme, surely that wouldn’t make someone a winner. Others said Paul failed at Jury Management, bitter jury, and some said Paul just never owned up to his game play.
Paul spoke out to CBS about some of the things he thinks went wrong in the house. “I’m just going to go ahead and assume that the Jury was just not satisfied with something. You know, I don’t think they understood the position that I was in and I had to do what I did to make sure I wasn’t nominated every week and taken out.”
“And I think that maybe when they were clipped before me, maybe they were a little upset about that or thought that I backstabbed them, but I never promised anyone that I’d throw my game away for them, so I’m not sure why they would have expected me to.”
He was also asked how he felt about Cody and especially Cody winning AVP. Paul stated he never really got to know Cody. He walked in the house gunning for him and there was no time to try to work with him or sway him, he had an instant target. Paul was completely shocked that Cody won AFP, he stated, “Extremely bizarre. He didn’t care much about the game, he didn’t treat any of it with respect or the Houseguests with respect, he just had an infatuation with Jessica and an infatuation with disliking me, so… I’m not quite sure what personality he portrayed. Maybe in the DR room… somewhere that I must have missed. But living with him was definitely not fun.”
The Hollywood Reporter also caught up with Paul and one of the questions they asked him was if he thought he bullied people this season. “Absolutely not. A big part of Big Brother is mental warfare. If you can’t handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen. All of these people who are claiming I was bullying were right on that train, and I was voicing what all of them were saying. Everyone tossed the word “bullying” around, but nothing that I said or dictated was ever non-game-related. I never said, “Go tell this person they’re ugly.” But, “Go drive this person nuts so they don’t perform well in the next competition” — that’s Big Brother. If you can’t handle that, then I don’t know why you’re here to win half a million dollars. ”
They also broke the news to him about Christmas revealing on feeds that she had feelings for him. Paul stated that he is the showmance killer, he doesn’t do showmances. He stated that he loves Josh and Christmas to the moon and back but they are all different people and they have different lives.
Paul has spent a total of 191 days in the Big Brother house and says that he would do it again if he was invited back. What do you think, should he come back? Would you like to see him on an All Stars season?
