Over the years, viewers have seen the girls come and go on “Dance Moms”. That being said, it always seemed like Nia Sioux would stay through it all. Nia was there from the very beginning of “Dance Moms”.
Nia recently told “Teen Vogue” about her plans of leaving and what her future may look like. Nia said, “I was just like, I’m 16 now, I’m growing up, the show has been a great platform, but it’s time to move on. During the show, I couldn’t take all the opportunities that I wanted to, and now since I’m off the show I’m getting to do what I want to do”.
Love her or hate her, Abby Lee Miller seemed to be the glue that held everyone together. Without her, “Dance Moms” and the team of girls are not the same. Could this also be a reason Nia has chosen this time to leave?
What will Nia be up to next? She wants to focus on being an entertainer with music and dancing, as well as being a role model. Nia’s newest endeavor is a movie, “Summer Dance”, about a “young dancer who falls in love and finds herself having to balance her relationship and pursuing her dreams”. The movie will premiere in the spring of 2018 as an independent film.
Is Nia saying goodbye to dance? Absolutely not. Nia has made the decision to hit the pause button for right now. Nia said, “I will always be attached to dance. Dancing has been a part of my life forever, so no matter what I’m doing dance is still going to be there. But I definitely want to go into other things. I have acting going on, music…my new music video, in 24 hours it went to No. 1 on iTunes”.
Nia attributes her success to “Dance Moms” and says, “While I learned so many things from the show, one of the biggest ones is probably how to deal with so many different kinds of people [and situations]…Whether it’s a costume breaking a minute before you go on stage, or [handling] an argument with someone…and I think I can take that with me wherever I go”.
Nia also is pursuing her platform of being a role model to others. On her Instagram, she captions posts with “#RoleModelMonday” where she focuses on an “inspirational person”. Nia stresses how important it is to know your own value and have confidence in yourself. It seems as though Nia realizes the unique position she is in and fully plans on using her platform in a positive way.
Are you surprised Nia is leaving “Dance Moms”? Do you think she will be successful in her new ventures?
