Martin Landau began his extensive acting career in the 1950’s and has won many awards including an Oscar for “Ed Wood” in 1994, several Oscar nominations, Screen Actor Guild awards, Golden Globes and many others. Mr. Landau was most known for his role in the series “Mission Impossible” in which he starred with his then wife Barbara Bain. The popular series ran from 1966 thru 1973 but the couple left after the third-year due to a financial dispute with producers.
Martin Landau was originally offered the role of “Mr. Spock” on the Star Trek television series but turned it down and eventually played by Leonard Nimoy. Martin Landau was also an acting coach with Jack Nicholson as one of his many students. Among many of his endeavors he was actor of film, television, and theater in which he conquered all.
Mr. Landau had two daughters with ex-wife Barbara Bain and divorced in 1993. He succumbed to “unexpected complications” on Saturday while in UCLA Medical Center for an undisclosed illness. Hollywood has lost a great talent and legendary actor.
