Pop icon, Katy Perry, is said to be in talks with ABC and producers to take a seat at the judges table of American Idol (redeaux). Money being the only issue. Perry is said to be willing to work around her touring schedule and Idol tapings. TMZ reports that Katy is very interested, which is totally different from her reluctance to be a judge when asked if she’d do it back in 2012.
At that time, she told the Hollywood Reporter, “it’s very of-the-moment, and some of them are better than others.” She added, “I find it completely hilarious when they hire people that are not current in music and haven’t been for a decade or longer. Or if they’re not even in music. How are you going to give a perspective when you haven’t even lived that perspective?” Of course, Perry was in the midst of starting her own record label and at just released ‘Part of Me’, her 3D concert documentary.
Perry has a little experience in the judge’s chair. She was a guest judge during Season 9, sitting in for Paula Abdul.
The relaunch of American Idol is scheduled for March 2018.
