During the last several years, Jana Duggar feels a bit left out as she has seen several of her youngest sisters, including one of her brothers beginning new relationships – including a recent engagement which means another wedding to attend as her siblings continue to get married, one after the other, leaving Jana feeling kind of sad and lonely. Even Joy-Anna, at the age of 19 is now engaged, which basically means that Jana appears to be the one and only female sibling within the Duggar family who remains single. What is up with that?!
Well, let’s just say that during the last several years, Jana pretty much remains quiet regarding her lack of gentlemen callers, and she has also stated that her plans include following whatever God has in store for her, however, during a recent interview – Jana, one of the reality stars on the families TV show, “Counting On” as she was very focal which wasn’t exactly expected regarding her life as a single adult within the Duggar family, and, as we all know, the Duggar’s seem to enjoy walking down the aisle, saying their “I do’s” and starting a family, which is the Duggar clan’s number one priority in life.
“I know how it feels to wait for ‘Prince Charming’ to come along. I’m still waiting,” as Jana stated during a recent interview for the “Christian Today” magazine.
Jana, at the age of 27 is the oldest Duggar sibling, and, sadly she has witnessed her younger female siblings, Jessa, Jill and of course Jinger get hitched and begin a new life with their hubby’s.
However, she did confess during that same interview, at certain times she really feels alone, as if no one cares about her, especially knowing that her little sister’s get to go out with their boyfriends on dates – which includes all three of them and Jana is left at home by herself.
“Waiting is not always easy,” Jana told the magazine. “Especially in those times when all the married siblings are getting together and you can’t go along because you’re not part of ‘that’ group.”
As most of us know, Jana is still living at home in the same house along with her mom, dad and many of her siblings – apparently, keeping busy by doing chores all day makes her feel good, knowing that she is doing right for her family by helping and supporting each one of them.
“Waiting doesn’t mean sitting and literally waiting,” she said. “No, we need to be busy with where God has us and being content and joyfully serving Jesus there. My parents have always encouraged each of us to serve those around us… I’ve found that when I’m having a hard or discouraging day, I try to look for ways to bless or serve someone else. And in turn it usually blesses and encourages me!”
Jill Duggar – another sister of Jana’s is living with her husband and baby boy far away in another country, namely Central America. Jill and Derick have been constantly working hard with their missionary duties, however, Jana stated that she is also doing her own work by helping those who need her – whether the chore is cleaning around the house or caring for her brothers and sisters who are much younger than her.
“To encourage those of you still at home: Ministry is all around you, doing the basics such as helping with housework, babysitting littles, cleaning, that is ministry!” she advised. “‘Divine service done here three times a day’ is a sign that could be hung over the dish sink in our home! So, you don’t have to go on a mission trip to do ‘ministry.’ Wherever God has you now, just be faithful to reach out, encourage and serve those around you.”
It’s very hard for Jana to talk about marriage. (Let’s face it, no one should be treated like that, don’t you agree? She has been inundated with people constantly asking when she plans to get married and that’s been going on for at least ten years!)
In 2016, Jana did in fact talk about the issue, but just for a few minutes in one certain interview for the family’s reality TV show, “Counting On.”
Then, after a producer questioned Jana and wanted to find out what her plans were for the next 5 years, it was very clear that Jana was a bit uncomfortable, however, she decided to answer those tough questions, despite how she felt. Now that’s a class act!
“That’s a hard one,” she said. “I don’t really know what the next five years will look like. I guess in some ways you have hopes and dreams. Maybe I’ll meet the one and get married and have kids and stuff.”
Jana also said that she has had different guys who have shown a great deal of “attraction” towards her in an intimate way, however, she wants to take her time and be very careful when she decides who to begin a relationship with and who might just become her future hubby.
“There have been different guys come along and ask but they haven’t been, I don’t know, the right one,” Jana said. “I’m not just out to get married to the first one that comes along. I mean, sometimes it can be tempting. It’s like, ‘Oh, I really want to be married!’
And, she continued to say exactly what it feels like to be an “adult” Duggar sibling – being the oldest and continues to live at home taking care of chores and basically babysitting for most of the day.
(Imagine this: after Joy-Anna finally gets hitched and then leaves the nest, Jana will, unfortunately – be alone again naturally in the same bedroom she now shares with all her unmarried female siblings.)
“[I’m in] this weird in between stage,” Jana stated last year. “I’m not a younger one, but I’m not an older married one with kids. [I’m] just being busy with where God has me right now and being content in this place and learning as much as I can and go on and live life.”
Jana Duggar is nicked name “Cinderella” as her family continues to use her as their housekeeper. She really needs to find herself a good man!
