Before becoming Sia’s sidekick, Maddie was Abby Lee Miller’s favorite student at ALDC. She was tasked with carrying every routine, winning every number, and trying to remain tight with her friends as their mothers feuded over Abby’s favoritism of Maddie. Maddie is no longer competing, she is taking advantage of all the opportunities that have cime her way thanks to her time in the spotlight. Most recently, the fourteen-year-old has written a book entitled ‘The Maddie Diaries’.
In an interview with People.com, Maddie talks briefly about her ‘Dance Moms’ past. Like a true entertainment pro she avoided questions about Abby. You know the old saying: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”.
The teen admits that she has never watched an entire episode of the show that made her famous. She says, “We lived through it, so I don’t feel like we have to watch it, and it was just so much drama that I don’t want to see it again. I hate watching myself…it’s just weird to me.”
Maddie also shares that she’s glad to have her time at the ALDC behind her.
“It was so much pressure! I learned a lot of lessons. I had the craziest time when I was with her [Abby] and on that team. I’m really glad that I did move on from that, and I did learn a lot from her [Abby] and we did have some fun times. But I feel like now, I’ve never been happier in my life.”
She added “I was stressed at 11 years old, which shouldn’t happen. A trophy doesn’t mean anything!”
Her book is written as a candid view into her rise to fame, dancing and touring. She also answered questions from fans. Abby doesn’t make the cut when it comes to the book’s content – OUCH!
