As the third evictee from the Big Brother 19 house, 32 year old Cody Nickson hopped his way out of the BB19 house regretting that his gameplay leaves his showmance having to do damage control for him. He answered some questions from Chuck Boudreau about his game.
Chuck: Cody, you went from being the kingpin in the house, having the power and naming targets to being a houseguest who became a huge target. What did you do or what were the circumstances that saw the tables turn on you?
Cody: I wasn’t HOH anymore, they jumped on Paul and his power. They were all groupies of Paul from the start, so the second he even got the opportunity to get power they ditched me and jumped on him.
Chuck: Being completely open and upfront, you came across as a stern and isolated player. However, there were moments in the house when you laughed, smiled and seemed to enjoy yourself. What do the viewers not know about you that would downplay any negative views of you?
Cody: I’m not really too concerned about negative views of me – I can’t get people to like me or hate me, it’s gonna happen. I tried to maintain a warrior reserve. I don’t care if people have negative views of my sternness.
Chuck: Anyone who has watched Big Brother knows that showmances and alliances often become targets in the game. Were you aware of this, and what was it about Jessica that caused you to disregard that and allow the target to remain squarely on your back?
Cody: If I have any regret in the house, it’s the fact that my risks have directly affected Jessica. I get she’s playing her own game, and I’m playing my own game, so everyone takes their own risks. But I asked her to trust me multiple times before I took a risk and then I took it. So she’s feeling pain from things I’ve done in the game. I regret it because she has to do damage control for both of us essentially. She hated every move that I made in the game. She said I’m the worst player in Big Brother history, she’s going to give me a mug that says that. But her intuition is great, I should have listened to her more, and if I get back in the house I definitely will. But I’m still a risk taker.
Chuck: As part of the Den of Temptation, you, Jessica and Cowboy Jason were chosen to wear frog costumes and hop around the house. You were obviously not impressed. Was the issue with the costume, the singling out of you, or the razzing you would take outside the house, and do you think you would have been more accepting of the task had you not had the threat of nomination and eviction hanging over you?
Cody: I was actually pretty happy that it was just a costume curse and not something else that affected the game.
Chuck: Did you leave Jessica with any advice as to how to handle Paul or any other big threats?
Cody: I can’t give Jessica game advice. I don’t really have game advice. Her intuition in the game is way way better than mine. I literally can’t give Jessica any useful advice.
