BB19 winner Josh Martinez was blown away by the respect former housemate Cody Nickson exhibited to himself and his family. He said after the show’s finale Cody came to him, shook his hand, and apologized saying it was just a game. He went on to apologize to Josh’s parents saying he was so sorry if his actions had caused them any embarrassment.
Josh says Cody’s actions meant a lot to him and while he has much respect for him he’s doubtful he will interact with Cody again as they were not friends inside the house. He still considers Cody a meatball!
Cody’s was the deciding vote that awarded Josh the grand prize of $500,000. History repeated itself for second place winner Paul Abraham as he also landed in second place on BB18. Josh stated he was stunned when he realized he had won with Cody voting for him instead of Paul. After all the arguing and fighting Cody, Jessica, and Josh did throughout the season, with little to no game talk, Josh just knew Paul had his vote.
In the final moments of the finale show Paul turns to Josh and calls him a coward. Josh tells US Magazine he was hurt deeply by Paul’s comment, especially with Paul knowing how upset he had gotten in the house when other houseguests had called him a coward. Most fans, as well as the jury, will agree Paul’s actions of not owning his gameplay is what lost him the game. Josh apparently outplayed Paul by leaving the revealing goodbye messages that blew up Paul’s game.
Josh was asked who his most favorite and least favorite players are and he responded Christmas as his most favorite. No surprise there as he and Christmas were a duo throughout the entire season. Early on Josh went against Cody’s wishes (and instructions) and voted to keep Christmas sending Cameron home instead. After Josh made this decision there was no love lost between he and Cody.
His least favorite player seemed to be a toss up as he goes on to say he had heard Raven had said some untrue, hurtful things about him. He also goes on to say Cody was extremely hard to live with. When asked if he would consider returning to Big Brother in the future if CBS asks him, he said maybe in a couple of years, but not right away. He needed time to decompress and be with his family.
