“16 and Pregnant” Alumni Mourn the Loss of One of Their Own
Alumni of the show that started it all “16 and Pregnant” mourn the loss of one of their own Valerie Fairman, who died this week of a suspected drug overdose. Toxicology reports are not complete at this time, but drugs are thought to be the culprit. MTV posted on social media that “We are saddened by the news of Valerie Fairman’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.” MTV’s “16 and Pregnant” was the flagship that launched the spinoffs of “Teen Mom 2” and “Teen Mom OG.”
Chelsea Houska wrote “How incredibly sad. My heart goes out to her daughter and family.” Jenelle Evans also commented on social media saying “Oh my god. I just spoke to her a couple months ago, and told her I’m proud of her and looks like she’s doing good.” Jenelle also added “Don’t take life for granted, hold your children and love them close.”
Valerie Fairman was in a downward spiral for quite some time now with multiple arrests including prostitution charges. Valerie was found unresponsive this week in a friend’s bathroom after busting down the door when she wouldn’t answer repeated calls from outside the door. Valerie 23, never regained consciousness and leaves behind her seven-year-old daughter Nevaeh who is currently with Valerie’s mother.
This could have been the tragic end to several of the “Teen Mom’s” and in their heart, they must know it. Let this be a sad lesson on addiction and the havoc and sadness it causes to not only the person addicted but to all of the loved ones they leave behind.
Rest in peace Valerie Fairman.
